A Pinoy home is more than just a physical space—it’s an environment that shapes your thoughts, emotions, and energy---which is what a traditional Pinoy home should be, according to our grandparents. I remember hearing old people say that the home has an aura of mystical protection from evil and a home made functional with faithfulness invites favor. It’s a sanctuary where you recharge, dream, and manifest the life you desire. With intentional actions, your home can be a magnet for blessings, safety, favor, and even financial prosperity.  


Cultivating a Positive Atmosphere

The energy within your home plays a crucial role in attracting goodness into your life. A space filled with gratitude, kindness, and faith naturally draws blessings. Start by speaking affirmations over your home—words of abundance, peace, and favor. Decorating with inspiring elements like uplifting quotes, peaceful colors, and symbols of prosperity also enhances the atmosphere.  

Safety Through Mindfulness and Protection

A safe home is both physically secure and emotionally comforting. Secure doors and windows, use reliable locks, and ensure that alarms and emergency systems are functional. HousePinoy Backyard Plants that Help Cool Down Your Surroundings


They say it's going to be lots hotter in the middle of April and in May. Though it's too late to start planting trees and plants to cool down your surroundings at home now, it will be smart to start planting them today to prepare for the next hot summers in the coming years. I'm sure there are more to come.

If you're looking to create a cooler environment around your home this summer, certain backyard plants can help regulate temperature and provide much-needed shade. Here are some great options for the Philippine climate:

1. Fast-Growing Shade Trees

Gmelina Arborea – This tree grows quickly and provides a thick canopy, making it ideal for cooling outdoor spaces.

Rain Tree (Samanea saman) – Known for its wide-spreading branches, this tree offers excellent shade and helps reduce heat absorption.

Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla) – Though it takes longer to mature, mahogany trees provide dense shade and contribute to a cooler environment.

Avocado Seed and Your Unbearable Joint Pains


Avocado seeds, often discarded as waste, are rich in antioxidants and bioactive compounds that may help reduce inflammation and alleviate pain. Benefits of Avocado Seed Fermented in Olive Oil (or Alcohol)

The bioactive compounds in avocado seeds, such as flavonoids and phenolic acids, have been shown to combat oxidative stress and inflammation. Olive oil, rich in monounsaturated fats and antioxidants like vitamin E, enhances the absorption of these compounds and provides additional anti-inflammatory benefits. Together, they may help soothe joint pain, muscle aches, and skin inflammation.

How to Make the Potion

1. Prepare the Seeds: Eat the avocado fruit. Make sure you enjoy it. Set aside the seed. Clean and dry them thoroughly. Once dry, slice, grate or grind them into small pieces.
2. Combine with Olive Oil (or rubbing alcohol): Place the grated avocado seeds in a glass jar and cover them with high-quality extra virgin olive oil or rubbing alcohol. Ensure the seeds are fully submerged.
3. Fermentation Process: Seal the jar tightly and store it in a cool, dark place for about 2-4 weeks. Shake the jar occasionally to mix the contents and promote fermentation.
4. Strain and Store: After fermentation, strain the mixture to remove the seed particles. Transfer the infused oil to a clean container for storage.

Manage Your Stress by Drinking Water


I'm a water buff. Well, I'm a coffee lover and then a water buff because you need water to make coffee. Just kidding, though it's true. Anway, water is amazing. Its the most unassuming yet quintessential aspect of our daily lives—and holds a seemingly endless list of benefits. While it's often celebrated for keeping our bodies hydrated and maintaining vital physiological functions, water's power extends further, even into the realm of mental well-being. Its important if you want to keep sane in this crazy world. One lesser-known yet incredibly important aspect is how drinking water can help reduce stress.


Stress, whether caused by your job, neighbor, slow internet, money problems or significant life events, is an omnipresent element of modern living. When stressed, our bodies initiate a "fight or flight" response, releasing cortisol and adrenaline. While these hormones can be useful in short bursts, chronic stress leads to an array of health problems— from mental exhaustion to cardiovascular issues. Surprisingly, the simple act of drinking water can be a game-changer in managing and mitigating stress. At first I couldn't believe it, but it's true.

Water Magic

Firstly, dehydration itself is a stressor. When your body lacks sufficient water, it places undue strain on various systems, particularly the cardiovascular and neurological ones. Dehydration can cause symptoms like headaches, fatigue, and cognitive impairment (you can't seem to remember your coffee brand), which compound feelings of stress. By ensuring adequate hydration, you support the body's natural equilibrium, reducing the physical manifestations of stress.

Additionally, the act of drinking water has a soothing effect. Sipping water can engage the parasympathetic nervous system, often referred to as the "rest and digest" system. This activation counters the stress-induced "fight or flight" response and promotes relaxation. Furthermore, the repetitive action of drinking water can have a meditative quality, serving as a moment of calm and mindfulness in an otherwise hectic day. Yeah. I sip water slowly like wine instead of taking it in one gulp. Gulp!

The brain, an organ heavily reliant on hydration, benefits significantly when adequately watered. Even mild dehydration can impair cognitive function and mood, leading to irritability and decreased concentration. So, if you feel like fighting somebody, drink water first. By keeping the brain well-hydrated, we can think more clearly, make better decisions, and maintain a more balanced emotional state—crucial factors in stress reduction.

Can You Cope Up?

Moreover, drinking water can serve as a healthy coping mechanism. When experiencing stress, people often turn to unhealthy habits, such as consuming caffeine (ouch) or alcohol. Opting for water instead not only avoids the negative impacts of these substances but also actively contributes to better hydration and stress management.

While drinking water might seem like a mundane daily task to some folks, its role in reducing stress is far from insignificant. By maintaining hydration, we support our body's physiological needs, promote relaxation, enhance cognitive function (so you finally remember your coffee brand), and provide a healthy alternative to other stress-related habits. So next time stress hits, consider reaching for a glass of water— it's a small act with substantial benefits for your mental well-being. Just drink.
